A micro apartment will be featured for the first time at the pioneering Smart Home exhibition »let’s be smart« at the international interiors show in Cologne (imm cologne) from 15 to 21 January 2018.
Showcasing a complete Smart Home installation, the pioneering exhibition organised by the »let’s be smart« network covers almost 1,000 square metres and is located in Hall 4.2 (Pure Architects). Visitors can step inside and experience products in action from over 30 manufacturers in a range of everyday situations. Geared towards the various stages in life, social developments and people’s different needs, the Smart Home exhibition also includes a smart apartment designed for several family generations and a studio workspace. An exciting new addition to the exhibition in 2018 is a micro apartment for smart living.
The continuing shortage of affordable housing in urban areas is leading to a growing need for ever-smaller residential units. This is coupled with a rising demand for comfort and flexibility in every stage of life.
Focusing on complete flexibility, the micro apartment incorporates space-saving furniture and components designed for maximum convenience and comfort in micro living spaces. The apartment was developed in cooperation with premium furniture manufacturers RÖHR-BUSH and REHAU. It is equipped with appliances manufactured by Miele and energy-efficient water treatment systems from the company CLAGE.
The intelligent control system SMART SENSE from REHAU impressively demonstrates how flexible furniture and innovative components can meet people’s growing expectations. The cutting-edge technology transforms furniture surfaces into discrete control units. Touch-sensitive polymer profiles make it possible to control the lights or adjust the bed with a simple swipe of the finger. The practicality of this technology for micro apartments is illustrated by the ease with which the dining table can be raised to create an extended kitchen worktop. Once you’ve finished cooking, it can be effortlessly lowered back to dining height.
Another groundbreaking solution for projects with multiple micro apartments is the decentralised hot water system from CLAGE. A »Smart Control« app offers complete transparency regarding water and energy consumption as well as the resulting costs. The intelligent control system comes with convenient control options and customised settings that can be selected as required. Even better, 97% of the energy from the hot water is utilised, ensuring maximum energy efficiency.
Drawing on the latest insights from the construction industry, RÖHR-BUSH has developed a range of smart components for the micro furnishing segment. The inspired designs respond to the growing trend towards digitalisation and integrated smart homes. RÖHR-BUSH is providing the essential furnishing basis for these innovative developments. Having set new standards in furniture design and style for many years, the company is now leading the way in the smart micro apartment segment: “We’re only beginning to implement our smart product developments and we can already see enormous potential in this rapidly growing market. RÖHR-BUSH can therefore look forward to the future with great confidence. This new path is precisely the right direction for us,” says Dirk Strathoff, Head of Sales at RÖHR-BUSH. _______________________________________________________________________
