Fairmont Opens Golden Prague, Unveiling New Luxury Landmark in Czech Capital

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 22, 2025

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts strengthens its European portfolio with a vibrant new addition in the heart of Prague

A bold transformation of a 1970s icon
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has officially launched the Fairmont Golden Prague, a significant expansion of its European footprint. The new property is located on the banks of the Vltava River in Prague’s Old Town, adjacent to the upscale Pařížská Boulevard. Housed in a brutalist structure from the 1970s, originally designed by Czech architect Karel Filsak, the hotel’s rich architectural heritage is a central part of its appeal.

Preserving history with a modern twist
Renovation blends heritage with contemporary design
The transformation of the iconic building was spearheaded by chief architect Marek Tichý. His work focused on restoring key design elements such as ash wood posts, glass chandeliers, and gilded lighting. The renovation weaves Czech design history into the fabric of the hotel, creating a striking contrast between the original architecture and new design elements found throughout public areas and guest accommodations.

“The opening of Fairmont Golden Prague is a significant milestone as we continue to grow our presence in Europe,” said Omer Acar, chief executive officer of the brand.

“Prague is a city with an incredible story to tell and we are honored to play a part in preserving its great heritage. Blending our celebratory spirit with the building’s architectural grandeur will bring a captivating new luxury hotel experience to the Czech capital and its innovative restaurant concepts—an exciting new offering to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.”

Crafting a complete guest experience
320 rooms blend Czech craftsmanship and comfort
The Fairmont Golden Prague features 320 luxurious guest rooms, suites, and serviced residences. The interiors thoughtfully incorporate original architectural motifs, Czech glasswork, and a calming neutral color palette. Special attention was given to the spatial layout, separating living and sleeping areas to enhance guest comfort.

Diverse dining across six unique venues
The hotel offers a dynamic culinary experience through six dining outlets. Zlata Praha, the rooftop restaurant, showcases sweeping city views paired with seasonal dishes. Golden Eye brings a retro flair with modern Asian cuisine and 1970s-inspired design. Coocoo’s Nest, situated in the lobby, combines a café-bar ambiance with an adjoining art gallery. On the ground floor, Greenhouse highlights Czech pilsner and grilled specialties prepared over a Josper grill.

A celebration of Czech art and wellness
Restored art and state-of-the-art facilities
An impressive in-house art collection elevates the hotel’s atmosphere, featuring restored works by notable Czech artists René Roubíček, Miroslav Hejný, and Čestmír Kafka. These pieces from the 1960s and 1970s sit harmoniously alongside contemporary artworks, enriching both private and public spaces.

The wellness offering spans 15,000 square feet, comprising five treatment rooms, three saunas, a steam bath, and a unique L-shaped pool that flows from indoors to an outdoor garden. Guests also benefit from a fully equipped fitness center and tranquil private garden area.

Premium services and event spaces
Fairmont Gold and business-ready facilities
For guests seeking an elevated stay, the Fairmont Gold section includes private check-in, a dedicated lounge, and enhanced amenities. The hotel also provides a 6,500-square-foot ballroom, flexible event spaces, and boardrooms with rooftop terraces—ideal for business travelers and high-end events.

A cornerstone in Fairmont’s European presence
Part of a prestigious global portfolio
The Fairmont Golden Prague joins an esteemed list of European Fairmont properties, including Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland, The Savoy in London, and La Hacienda Costa Del Sol in Spain. As part of the Accor group, Fairmont continues to cement its reputation for refined hospitality across iconic global destinations.
