Lancia Returns to Glory at the 2025 Targa Florio with Exciting New Rally Cup

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 12, 2025 – Lancia is officially back on the racing scene, and it's making a triumphant return in one of motorsport’s most storied arenas: the legendary Targa Florio. From May 8 to 10, 2025, racing fans and automotive enthusiasts can witness history in the making as the brand debuts its all-new Trofeo Lancia cup at the 109th edition of the world’s oldest car race.

A Historic Comeback with Modern Flair

After years of anticipation, Lancia’s return is more than just a nostalgic nod—it's a bold leap into the future. The newly introduced Trofeo Lancia features the debut of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF, a dynamic rally car that has already generated buzz with 90 units sold in just four months. The sleek and powerful vehicle is built to thrill, powered by a 212-hp turbo engine with a SADEV 5-speed gearbox and Ohlin adjustable shocks—perfect for young, ambitious racers.

The Trofeo Lancia is a one-make cup consisting of six races across five dates, launching at the Targa Florio Rally, which also serves as the third stage of the Italian Absolute Rally Championship (CIAR SPARCO). Divided into three driver categories—Junior (Under 25), Master (25–35), and Expert (Over 35)—the cup offers an enticing €360,000 prize pool and the ultimate reward: a spot on the official Lancia team in the 2026 European Rally Championship.

Where Passion Meets Performance

The Lancia experience goes well beyond the racetrack. Fans can immerse themselves in the excitement at the Lancia Corse HF Village, located at the University of Palermo’s Museum of Engines and Mechanisms. This vibrant hub offers:

  • A welcoming hospitality area for guests
  • Hands-on activities and interactive exhibits
  • Thrilling test drives of the hybrid and electric New Ypsilon
  • A showcase of the 280-hp, all-electric Ypsilon HF that hits 0–100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds

To kick off the festivities, an exclusive launch event took place at the Palermo Stellantis&You showroom on May 7, setting the stage for a weekend packed with adrenaline and innovation.

Targa Florio: A Race Rooted in Legacy

Spanning 781.29 km with 113.7 km of special stages, the Targa Florio is not only a test of speed but of endurance and precision. The ceremonial start lit up Piazza Verdi in front of Teatro Massimo on May 8 at 6:30 p.m., marking the beginning of a weekend where history and modern rallying collided.

For Lancia, this return is deeply symbolic. With 15 total victories, the brand is one of the most successful in Targa Florio’s long history. From the legendary Lancia Stratos HF to the Delta HF Integrale, the cars—and their drivers—have become icons of Italian motorsport. “After years of waiting and growing excitement among fans, Lancia will bring back a legend in just a few days,” the company proudly declared.

The Trofeo Lancia Journey Is Just Beginning

Following its electrifying debut in Sicily, the Trofeo Lancia continues on to Italy’s most prestigious rally stages:

  • Rally Due Valli – May 30–31
  • Rally Roma Capitale – July 4–6 (part of the FIA ERC)
  • Rally del Lazio – September 13–14
  • Rallye Sanremo – October 17–18

Fans can follow every twist and turn via Lancia Corse HF’s official channels on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, where the action is streamed in real time.

Relive the Glory. Drive the Future.

Lancia’s comeback is more than a celebration of its past—it's a bold vision for what's ahead. With cutting-edge engineering, a strong support for young drivers, and a deep connection to its Italian roots, the brand is setting a thrilling course for the future of rally racing.
