Candela C-8

Submitted by J. Mikhail on

Candela founder Gustav Hasselskog had announced the launch for this spring – and he kept his promise. Not with a big bang, but with an almost noiseless ‘floating’, a new chapter was added to powerboating. The foiling speedboat Candela C-8 masterly lifted out of the water to foil over the Baltic Sea off Stockholm piloted by Gustav Hasselskog himself.

Now the world’s first all-electric foiling cabin day cruiser is ready for serial production. boot Düsseldorf will see the foiler celebrate its European trade fair debut in the hall. Boasting a bigger range, improved seagoing properties and over-the-air updates it is already now the best-selling electrical premium boat in Europe, say the manufacturers.

Like with the first model C-7, the up-to-date design of this Swedish innovation leader is propelled by an electrical foil drive that makes the boat fly in no time. The C-POD, as Candela calls it, operates with a sophisticated sensor system that also stabilises the boat when riding waves. For Candela C-8 this means up to 30 knots and next to noiseless operation. With consumption of 1.1 kWh per nautical mile – corresponding to approx. 0.13 l of petrol – the Candela C-8 on average consumes less energy than a modern small car.
