Aspen – October 07, 2026 -- Skiers at Aspen Snowmass will carry pocket-sized artwork this winter after Aspen One announced that Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes has designed the 2026/27 season's lift tickets and season passes. The collaboration falls under Aspen One's Art in Unexpected Places (ArtUP) program, which has turned lift tickets into collectible art for more than two decades.
Five Milhazes works transform everyday ski passes
Five pieces from Milhazes' screenprint and painting catalog -- Flip Flop (2010), Rosa Branca no Centro (1997), A Prata e o Ouro (1997/98), Bossinha (2011), and Belezinha (2011) -- will appear across the Aspen Cards used for lift tickets and season passes.
Silver Queen Gondola station gets a season-long color makeover
Beyond the cards, Milhazes' art will cover the Silver Queen Gondola station at Aspen Mountain's base. Transparent and translucent colored vinyl, custom-fit to the building's glass and window panels, will create a stained-glass-like collage for guests riding the gondola throughout the season.
"Art is about life and nature," Milhazes said, adding that she hopes visitors feel a deeper connection where art and nature meet.
Pace Gallery calls her one of today's most important painters
Milhazes, represented by Pace Gallery, has previously produced large-scale public works in São Paulo, Vienna, Paris, and on Inujima Island, Japan, over more than 20 years. Pace Gallery President and CEO Marc Glimcher said she "revolutionized painting in Brazil in the 1990s" with a style that influenced artists worldwide.
Dave Tanner, President and CEO of Aspen One, said Milhazes' vibrant colors and energy "speak a universal language that resonates with guests from around the world."
