New York – September 18, 2026 -- Hublot has unveiled the Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons, a limited-edition watch collaboration inspired by the artist's iconic mirrored balloon sculptures. The 42mm timepiece comes in three editions -- mirror-polished stainless steel, red anodized aluminum, and blue anodized aluminum -- with each edition capped at 200 pieces.
The watch reworks the traditionally flat, sleek Classic Fusion case into a design that mimics inflated volume, as though shaped by air pressure. Domed sapphire crystal, rounded titanium screw heads, a convex 'puffy' dial, and a padded metallic leather strap all contribute to the illusion of an inflatable object rendered in metal.
Every component was re-engineered to mimic an inflated balloon
Signature details include a rubber-molded aluminum crown shaped like a balloon knot, a flexible decorative 'balloon tail' at the 10:30 position, and a seconds-hand counterweight shaped like the Balloon Dog itself. The indexes and hands use Super-LumiNova formed into inflated shapes, while aluminum was chosen specifically for its ability to reproduce Koons' saturated color palette.
Jeff Koons said reinterpreting the Classic Fusion required more than merging an artwork with an existing watch design -- the entire architecture had to be rebuilt to suggest air-filled tension in every surface.
The movement itself carries a custom tungsten weight
The watch runs on a manufacture automatic caliber fitted with a custom tungsten oscillating weight designed with rounded, voluminous forms that echo the case's visual language. Components were milled using 5-axis CNC machining to achieve the puffed silhouette before being finished by hand.
Hublot CEO Julien Tornare said the project challenged every construction principle of the Classic Fusion to create the illusion of inflation while preserving fine watchmaking standards.
The watch ships in balloon-shaped packaging
Each piece is presented in Balloon Dog-inspired packaging featuring a chromed, rubber-effect finish matched to the watch's color variant. The timepieces are assembled at Hublot's Manufacture in Nyon and covered by the brand's 5+5 warranty program, extending coverage up to ten years.
The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog will be sold at select Hublot points of sale and displayed in select galleries.
