Imperial Takes Costa Rican Dinners and Piñatas to Toronto

San José – October 12, 2026 -- Costa Ricans living in Toronto, Medellín and other cities abroad can look forward to Costa Rican-style dinners, piñata experiences, traditional mascaradas and stand-up comedy, as beer brand Imperial launches a cultural platform called Es de Ticos.

Events target communities that stay connected to home

The platform aims to recognize the traditions, experiences and expressions that make up Costa Rican identity. Imperial will stage the activities in cities with Costa Rican communities that keep an active link to their home country, creating spaces to reconnect with familiar customs.

More than 63,000 Costa Ricans registered to vote from abroad in 2026

That figure comes from Costa Rica's Supreme Electoral Tribunal. According to the Central Bank of Costa Rica, many who settled overseas did so for educational or professional opportunities. The communities have also been shaped by employment and family reunification.

In the United States, 38% of Costa Ricans aged 25 and older hold at least a bachelor's degree, and more than half have lived there for over two decades, according to the Pew Research Center.

Imperial's brand manager frames the events as a celebration

Fabian Loría, Brand Manager for Imperial, said the activities are meant to recognize and celebrate the elements that bring Costa Ricans together "wherever we may be."
