ProWine Tokyo 2025 Delivers Global Flavor and Local Inspiration in Japan’s Booming Wine & Spirits Scene

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 26, 2025 – ProWine Tokyo 2025 closed its doors on a high note, proving once again that Japan is not just a major player in the global wine and spirits industry—it’s a market full of rich potential, unique tastes, and cultural depth. Attracting a record-breaking 190 exhibitors from 21 countries and over 56,000 trade visitors, the event showcased the very best in global and local offerings.

For consumers and businesses alike, this year’s show delivered a world of discovery, from European wine heritages to cutting-edge tools and even manga-inspired wine education—all under one roof at Tokyo Big Sight.

A World of Wines Under One Roof

This year’s ProWine Tokyo embraced its international roots with vibrant pavilions from France, Germany, Spain, and Portugal. For the first time, exhibitors from Serbia and Georgia added their distinct flair, while China, Mexico, and New York introduced exciting new trends.

“Today marks the final day of the show, and feedback from our exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive! The strong interest from Japanese professionals in French wines and spirits reaffirms that this market remains strategic and promising, even amid global uncertainties,” said Sandrine Krummenacher of Business France.

China’s debut was also warmly welcomed. Ian Dai, founder of Loong’s Toast & YGCW, noted, “This is Loong's Toast's first participation in an international exhibition, and the feedback we received met our expectations… These factors make Japan a promising choice for exporting Chinese wine.”

Celebrating Japan’s Own Legacy

Not to be overshadowed, Japan’s traditional beverage makers took the spotlight as well. The Japan Sake and Shochu Makers Association unveiled both heritage and innovative products, reaffirming local pride and global interest.

Meanwhile, exhibitors offering wine tools found a captivated audience. Greg Lambrecht, Chairman at CORAVIN, shared: “We are a new technology in a very old industry… Here, people who love wine, their desire to study and gain deep understanding of everything around wine is so intense.”

A Market that’s Mature, Curious, and Growing

Despite global declines in alcohol consumption, Japan continues to carve out a strong and evolving niche. Attendees were eager to learn, taste, and share insights. Hugues Amesland of Rounagle-Halcools SAS reflected, “Japan is a mature market… We received valuable feedback, and the overall response was very encouraging.”

The event wasn’t just about tradition—it was about innovation, too. From AI-powered sommeliers for small restaurants to grape varieties turned manga characters, ProWine Tokyo made learning about wine playful, personal, and perfectly in tune with Japanese pop culture.

Connecting with Japan’s Culinary Scene

A highlight of this year’s show was its integration with Japan’s top-tier food world. With events like the “Star Wine List of the Year Japan 2025” and the Tokyo Italian Sommelier Award, ProWine Tokyo aligned perfectly with the needs of gourmet restaurants, luxury importers, and wine aficionados.

“This edition was perfect… I made great contacts, including importers and restaurants—exactly the clients we’re targeting,” said Knopfler Ellia, Sales Manager of Château de Gourdon.

Learning and Networking at a Whole New Level

Beyond tasting and showcasing, ProWine Tokyo 2025 offered over 30 masterclasses and forums. Attendees gained deep insights into wine trends and market strategies, while international brands discovered the keys to successful entry in Japan’s refined and competitive landscape.

Paulo Repetto, CEO of NOMORA, summed it up best: “I had high expectations and they will be well met. Even on the first day I met so many importers and I’m afraid it will be tough to select the right ones.”
