Know Your Lemons App Update Adds Risk Check and Self-Exam Games

Salt Lake City – October 16, 2026 -- The Know Your Lemons Foundation has updated its Webby award-winning app with new games that teach breast self-exams and help users assess their personal risk to build a custom screening plan, a first for the app. The update arrives during Breast Cancer Awareness Month alongside the launch of the #Lemonista movement.

Two lemons, two goals: confidence and intelligence

The app now awards two lemons through a series of games. One lemon stands for Confidence in knowing your body. The other stands for Intelligence in knowing your personal risk and screening plan. Earn both and you officially become a Lemonista.

Lemonistas can share a two-lemon symbol on social media to show their improved breast cancer awareness. Actor Carrie Preston of CBS's Elsbeth, Christine Handy of the Hello Beautiful movie, and breast cancer radiologist Dr. Anjali Malik have added the symbol to their profiles.

The gap the update targets

The foundation says most women have never been taught how to check their breasts with confidence. Few have completed a risk assessment, which the American College of Radiology recommends by age 25. Early detection is one of the strongest predictors of surviving breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women ages 20 to 49 in the United States, and the leading cause of cancer death among women globally. A growing number of women under 40 are finding breast changes themselves, often before they qualify for routine screening.

A 24-year-old who acted on a social media image

Lynsey White, 24, found a lump under her armpit one week after seeing the Know Your Lemons 12 symptoms image on social media. She was diagnosed with breast cancer within a few weeks. She was first told the lump was nothing to worry about because of her age, but the campaign gave her the confidence to push for testing.

The charity says its awareness campaign has reached 2 billion people worldwide.

Founder Corrine Ellsworth-Beaumont said people often learn about breast health only after a problem appears. She said every Lemonista who shares what they have learned could help someone else catch something early.
