Berlin – September 08, 2026 -- Sunseeker Intelligent Technology SE unveiled its 2027 robot lawn mower lineup at IFA 2026, introducing five LiDAR-guided models that navigate without boundary wires, antennas, or manual setup.
The flagship S7 trims lawn edges down to zero centimeters
A retractable trimmer head called EdgeZero lets the top-tier S7 cut right up to walls, flower beds, and fences without leaving a strip of uncut grass. The smaller S3 and S5 models use a side-mounted mini cutting disc that reaches within 3 centimeters of the edge. Sunseeker says this eliminates the manual edge-trimming that mower-robot owners have typically still needed to do by hand.
A thermal camera detects animals by body heat, even in total darkness
An optional thermal-imaging camera identifies living creatures -- hedgehogs, birds, mice, or cats -- by their body heat rather than shape or color, allowing the mower to stop and steer around them at night when garden wildlife is most active. The company notes its current generation already won a 2026 award from the magazine "Ein Herz für Tiere" for animal-protection technology. The new models also distinguish more than 360 different objects in a garden and halt before any collision occurs.
MapOS builds what Sunseeker calls the industry's first 3D garden map
Instead of treating a yard as a flat outline with obstacles, the new system combines camera imagery with artificial intelligence to render beds, trees, and terraces as recognizable 3D objects. Sunseeker says it is the first manufacturer to bring this capability to a robot mower. Users can set mowing zones and no-go areas directly on the recognized features, and manual re-mapping is no longer needed every time a garden chair gets moved.
A connected ecosystem lets the lawn flag its own problems
The mower, rain gauges, and soil sensors -- the latter arriving in 2027 -- form a smart-garden system that monitors the lawn continuously. If the AI spots yellowing grass, it distinguishes between drought stress and pest damage and recommends watering or treatment; a planned link to smart irrigation controls would eventually let it act on those recommendations automatically.
Prices and availability
The S3 targets smaller gardens and slopes, the S5 suits medium to large family gardens, and the all-wheel-drive S7 is built for large, steep, or irregularly shaped properties. The lineup covers lawns from 500 to 3,000 square meters and goes on sale in February 2027. The devices are on display at IFA 2026 in Hall 11.1, Stand 107.
