Rugvista's New 'Woven Stories' Rugs Turn Craftsmanship Into Decor

Malmö – September 30, 2026 -- Swedish rug company Rugvista has launched Woven Stories, a new collection of 14 designs in 21 colour variations, available now at rugvista.com.

The designs draw on faded colours and worn textures to mimic decades-old craftsmanship.

Developed in-house by Rugvista's design team in Malmö, the collection uses subtle irregularities and tactile surfaces to give new rugs a sense of history. The goal is a look that feels collected over time rather than bought all at once.

Matilda Lundgren, Chief Design Officer at Rugvista, said the team wanted to translate worn surfaces and traditional techniques into rugs that still feel relevant in modern homes.

Four standout designs highlight different weaving techniques.

Among the 14 designs, Fresco, Karima, Fragments and Reva serve as highlights. Fresco mixes loop and cut pile construction to create a surface that changes appearance depending on the light, while Karima, Fragments and Reva lean into traditional patterns, colours and materials. The rugs are made from wool, with select designs blending wool and viscose.

Rugvista filmed the rug-making process in India for the campaign.

To document the human skill behind the collection, Rugvista recorded the craftsmanship and specialist techniques used to produce select designs in India. That footage and photography were paired with images shot inside a Stockholm home, linking the collection's historical inspiration to real interiors.

Woven Stories became available on rugvista.com starting September 30, 2026.
