Berlin – October 28, 2026 -- A four-part documentary podcast called "Die Party ist vorbei" ("The Party Is Over") examines how safe sex-positive parties really are. All episodes arrive in ARD Sounds on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
One night leads from the club to the courtroom
The series follows Hannah (name changed), who goes to a sex-positive party looking forward to an evening of freedom. Her night ends in the emergency room and later in court. Her story raises wider questions: What happens when boundaries are crossed at these events? What do awareness concepts achieve, and who is responsible?
Two authors spent a year researching the scene
Authors Jessica Ramczik and Nastassja von der Weiden researched the project for over a year. Across the four episodes they talk to party guests, organizers, awareness teams and legal experts. Von der Weiden says that coverage usually focuses on hedonism and sexual freedom, while the podcast looks at sexual assaults, unsafe environments and the powerlessness that can follow. The authors met several women who partied or worked at such events and experienced or witnessed assaults.
Ramczik takes away one conclusion from the work: in her view, truly free partying is not possible under patriarchal conditions.
Episodes 3 and 4 reach other platforms a week later
The trailer is already online. On November 5, ARD Sounds releases all four episodes. The first two episodes also appear that day on other podcast platforms, and episodes 3 and 4 follow there on November 12.
The series is produced by Studio Soma for rbb, NDR Kultur, ARD Kultur, Radio Bremen and MDR.
