SHERIDAN, WYOMING – October 11, 2024 – Alpine, the French sports car manufacturer, has unveiled the A390_β show car, a 100% electric sports fastback that previews the brand's upcoming production model. This innovative vehicle marks the second stage in Alpine's "Dream Garage," a trio of electric sports cars that represent the brand's commitment to sustainable performance.
Exterior Design: A Blend of Aerodynamics and Alpine Identity
The A390_β's design is heavily inspired by the Alpine A110, featuring a minimalist aesthetic with a distinctive lighting signature. The car's silhouette is both fluid and dynamic, resembling a "monolithic bubble" for optimal aerodynamics. Its iconic "Bleu Specular" paint highlights the car's sharp lines and multifaceted design.
The A390_β incorporates several aerodynamic elements, including a "flying bridge" at the front and wide side scoops to optimize airflow. The rear features an illuminated light strip that can extend or retract by 80mm, transforming the car from a "short-tail" to a "long-tail" design for improved aerodynamics and range.
Interior Design: A Fusion of Sportiness and Comfort
The interior of the A390_β offers a glimpse into the future of Alpine interiors, with a deliberately conceptual design that combines sportiness and comfort. The cockpit is inspired by Formula 1, featuring a compact, technical steering wheel and a holographic display for driving information. The driver's seat can be transformed into an F1-style driving position with the touch of a button, offering a truly immersive driving experience.
In contrast, the rear passenger area is designed for maximum comfort, with a white bench seat and curved shapes that evoke a snowy mountain landscape.
The Future A390: French Engineering and Sustainable Performance
The A390_β show car previews the upcoming production model, the A390, which is set to launch in 2025. The A390 will be built on a modified version of the Ampere's AmpR Medium platform, with batteries positioned for a low center of gravity and optimal handling.
The car will feature three electric motors – one at the front and two at the rear – and an innovative Active Torque Vectoring system for intelligent torque distribution. This technology promises to deliver a dynamic and engaging driving experience, reminiscent of the iconic A110.
A Showcase of French Savoir-Faire
The A390_β embodies French craftsmanship and technology, with key components sourced from French companies. The car's floor is made from high-performance recycled carbon by Lavoisier Composites, while the seat headrests are 3D-printed using bio-sourced materials by Erpro Group.
A Commitment to Sustainable Sportiness
The Alpine A390_β show car represents the brand's vision for the future of electric sports cars, combining exhilarating performance with sustainable technology and French savoir-faire.
