SHERIDAN, WYOMING – July 24, 2025 – A beloved icon from automotive history is getting a futuristic upgrade at this year’s Sachsen Classic Rallye, where a 1953 VW T1 Bulli will take the spotlight — not just for its timeless charm, but for its trailblazing engineering. This one-of-a-kind vintage vehicle has been enhanced to operate using four different drive systems, including a fossil fuel engine, two hybrid-electric systems, and even cutting-edge CO₂-neutral e-Fuel sourced regionally from Chemnitz.
Running from August 14 to 16, 2025, the event promises to be more than a celebration of classic cars — it's a journey through time, technology, and tradition, set against the picturesque backdrop of Dresden and its surrounding landscapes.
A Rallye That Bridges Generations
For the first time, both the start and finish lines of the Sachsen Classic Rallye will be located in the heart of Dresden, coinciding with Germany’s largest city festival. This creates a dynamic setting where spectators can enjoy both cultural festivities and the unmistakable beauty of vintage automobiles.
The rally will feature legendary vehicles from across eras, but none will garner more attention than the T1 Bulli, affectionately dubbed a "rolling museum." Its futuristic twist — running on e-Fuel developed by CAC-Engineering and Parafuel — ensures the past meets a sustainable future.
Celebrity Appeal and Memorable Moments
Olympic figure skating champion Katarina Witt will also join the event, driving the very same model of VW Golf she once cruised in during her younger years. She will depart from the Dresdner Whisky Manufaktur at precisely 12:01 p.m. on Thursday.
