SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 6, 2025 - Kia America has shattered sales records once again, closing out March 2025 with its best monthly and first-quarter performance in company history.
The automaker delivered a remarkable 78,540 vehicles in March, reflecting a 13.1% year-over-year increase, and extending its record-breaking monthly sales streak to six consecutive months. This robust finish to the first quarter pushed Kia’s total Q1 sales to 198,850 units, a 10.7% increase over Q1 2024.
SUVs and Sedans Lead the Charge
Kia’s strong March performance was driven by unprecedented sales figures across several key models. The Carnival MPV, Sportage, Telluride, and the all-new K4 compact sedan each reached their highest monthly sales to date.
Since its launch in August 2024, the K4 has maintained an upward sales trajectory, culminating in a 10% year-over-year increase for Q1. Kia’s popular SUV lineup also posted substantial gains, with the Carnival jumping 53%, the Telluride rising 17%, and the Sportage increasing 11%, compared to the same period last year.
“Kia continues to deliver record sales on the strength of our product lineup and growing brand reputation, while also experiencing increased customer interest and showroom traffic,” said Eric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America. “Sportage, Telluride, and Carnival achieved their highest monthly sales ever, contributing to the record breaking first quarter sales.”
Electrification and Innovation on the Rise
Kia’s electric vehicle (EV) segment continues to evolve, with the EV6 and EV9 entering full-scale production at the company’s West Point, Georgia plant. This move is expected to streamline the supply chain and boost EV availability.
Kia also announced a new milestone for EV9 owners and lessees. Thanks to a partnership with Wallbox (NYSE: WBX), they will soon enjoy Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability via the Quasar 2 bidirectional charger and its Power Recovery Unit. Preorders for this innovative technology are now open to eligible customers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Major Investment in U.S. Manufacturing
Another major highlight of March was the grand opening of Kia’s Metaplant America facility in Georgia. This $7.59 billion investment is set to become a hub for American-built Kias and is projected to create over 8,500 jobs at full capacity. The facility now holds the title for the largest economic development project in Georgia’s history.
Commitment to Safety Recognized
Kia’s commitment to safety continues to earn high praise. The 2025 Telluride received the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) designation for the third consecutive year, and the 2025 EV9 also achieved an upgraded safety rating under stricter IIHS criteria.
Retail Growth Points to Long-Term Momentum
Retail transactions at Kia dealerships surged 25% year-over-year, signaling sustained consumer interest and a strengthening brand presence. With a balanced portfolio of stylish sedans, versatile SUVs, and cutting-edge EVs, Kia is positioned for continued success throughout 2025.
