SHERIDAN, WYOMING – July 24, 2025 – Kia drivers in Europe can look forward to even more intuitive and informative journeys as the company integrates Google Points of Interest (POIs) into its latest navigation systems. This new feature is set to debut with the upcoming Kia EV4, and will soon be available via free updates to other Kia models equipped with the brand’s ccNC infotainment system.
The integration brings a familiar and powerful search experience right to the vehicle’s screen, enabling drivers to access detailed, real-time information about landmarks, restaurants, businesses, and other popular locations directly through the navigation interface.
Google POIs Boost Driving Confidence and Convenience
By leveraging Google’s widely used database, drivers can now easily identify relevant spots on the map — each marked with a distinctive pin and enriched with practical details.
“The detailed information provided by Google POIs enables customers to make informed decisions before each drive and adjust them on the go,” said Pablo Martinez Masip, Vice President Product & Marketing at Kia Europe. “Facilities close, opening hours change, more parking becomes available. We provide this and more to our customers through the vehicle screen, elevating navigation and the driving experience to a whole new level.”
Through the system, drivers can now view:
- Opening hours and admission prices
- Real-time crowd levels and availability (e.g. parking)
- User-submitted reviews and star ratings
- Menus, accessibility features, and updated photos
These insights help drivers plan better, avoid closed or overcrowded destinations, and enjoy smoother, more enjoyable trips.
EV4 Leads the Way in Navigation Innovation
The Kia EV4, a compact and practical electric hatchback designed specifically for Europe, is the first Kia model to include Google POIs from the start. Its intuitive onboard navigation system will allow seamless access to location data and updated route guidance with turn-by-turn directions to any selected POI.
This feature will also be pre-installed in all future Kia models with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system.
Free Updates for Existing ccNC Models
Kia is also making sure that current owners don’t miss out. All Kia vehicles already equipped with ccNC will receive Google POIs via a free software update later this summer. Even better, the update will be delivered Over-the-Air (OTA), meaning drivers won’t need to visit a dealership to access the upgrade.
A major advantage of using Google POIs is the constant stream of user-contributed updates within the Google ecosystem, which helps maintain the accuracy and richness of the information. This includes everything from updated menus and operating hours to newly posted photos and accessibility details.
Making Every Journey Smarter
With the integration of Google POIs, Kia is turning its navigation systems into dynamic, real-time travel companions. Whether it's finding the best-rated lunch spot on the way or checking parking availability at a local museum, drivers can rely on their Kia to provide smart, up-to-date information that enhances every trip.
