SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 20, 2025 – Renault Group and Geely Holding Group (“Geely Holding”) today announced a framework agreement to expand their strategic cooperation into the production and sales of zero and low emission vehicles in Brazil. This partnership will leverage the strengths of both companies to address the growing demand for sustainable mobility solutions in the region.

Expanding Global Footprint Through Strategic Partnership

This agreement marks a significant step in the global expansion strategies of both Renault Group and Geely Holding. Renault do Brasil will welcome Geely Holding as a new partner, facilitating access to Renault Group’s established Ayrton Senna Industrial Complex in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná. This access will enable Geely Holding to engage in localized production, sales, and service resources. The venture is contingent upon the finalization of definitive agreements and the approval of relevant regulatory bodies.

Localized Production and Distribution Synergies

The collaboration will utilize the two advanced production facilities within Renault Group’s Ayrton Senna Complex. These facilities will be adapted to produce new vehicles for both Geely Holding and Renault, in addition to the existing Renault lineup. This shared production model aims to optimize efficiency and resource utilization.

On the distribution front, Renault do Brasil will act as a distributor for Geely Holding’s portfolio of zero and low emission vehicles within Brazil. This arrangement leverages Renault’s existing distribution network and commercial expertise to accelerate Geely Holding’s market penetration in Brazil, the largest automotive market in South America.

Executive Insights on the Partnership

Luca de Meo, CEO Renault Group, emphasized the existing strong relationship between the two companies: “Renault Group and Geely have already gone a pretty long way together: we successfully launched a joint venture in Korea and, with Horse, we have designed a world leader in powertrain technology. Together, we have built trust and an effective working relationship. These are great assets that we want to leverage today with this new cooperation in Brazil. It will allow us to consolidate our industrial footprint in the state of Paraná and to further strengthen the position of the Renault brand on this key market.”

Eric Li, Chairman of Geely Holding Group, highlighted the partnership's role in driving sustainable transformation: “Geely’s cooperation with Renault is part of its commitment to working with global partners in transforming and improving the industry in a sustainable direction. From South Korea to global powertrains, and now to Brazil, Geely’s relationship with Renault has moved forward. By working together, we mutually benefit from shared synergies and improved efficiencies to create greater value for our global users.”

Daniel Li, CEO of Geely Holding Group, underscored the importance of collaboration in the evolving automotive landscape: “In this transformative era of the global automotive industry, it makes sense to traverse to path ahead with friends and partners. To achieve quantitative and qualitative growth, we cannot be satisfied just staying comfortable in one place, we must go out to the world, adhere to long-term development, and commit to being open and collaborative.”

A Stronger Presence in a Key Market

This strategic alliance positions Renault Group and Geely Holding Group to become significant players in the Brazilian automotive market, which accounts for 44% of all automotive sales in Latin America. By combining their respective strengths in production, distribution, and technology, the two companies aim to capitalize on the growing demand for zero and low emission vehicles and contribute to a more sustainable automotive future.
