Could Your Car Be a Museum Piece? Tacoma Wants to See It

Tacoma – October 30, 2026 -- Car owners in Tacoma and the greater Pacific Northwest can now submit their vehicles for a museum exhibition, with entries open through December 14, 2026. LeMay – America's Car Museum (ACM) is building Local Flavor, a community-driven show opening Saturday, January 23, 2027.

The Museum wants meaningful stories, not just rare cars

ACM is inviting residents, businesses, car clubs, collectors and enthusiasts across Tacoma, the South Sound and the Pacific Northwest to take part. Eligible entries range from family heirlooms passed down through generations and beloved neighborhood vehicles to local racing history, custom creations and motorcycles.

Curator Bruce Patton said, "The goal isn't necessarily to find the most expensive or rarest vehicles." The aim, he said, is to find the stories that make vehicles meaningful.

Every submission goes to the curatorial team

Owners submit vehicles through the Museum's official online form. The curatorial team reviews each entry. Owners of vehicles selected for further consideration will be contacted directly to discuss participation, loan arrangements and next steps.

The Museum is also looking for local artists, photographers, historians, car clubs and businesses that hold automotive artwork, photographs, memorabilia or historical materials.

Local Flavor takes over the top-floor gallery through May 2027

The exhibition succeeds Birth of the American Supercar in the Museum's top-floor gallery and is scheduled to stay on display through May 2027. The grand opening starts at 10 a.m. on January 23, 2027, at 2702 East D Street, Tacoma, WA 98421.
