Turin, Italy – September 16, 2026 -- GAC's AION UT electric SUV has won Best Exterior Design at the 2026 Torino Automotive Design Award, presented during Salone Auto Torino 2026.
Jury praises clean lines over flashy styling
The TADA jury cited the AION UT's "clean, cohesive design and distinctive personality," pointing to its balanced proportions, smooth surfaces and a spacious cabin as evidence of overall design quality without relying on excessive decoration.
Milan design team aimed for a look that won't date
The AION UT was designed by GAC's European design team in Milan. Stéphane Janin, head of GAC's Milan Design Studio, said the goal was a design that wouldn't quickly go out of fashion, achieved by stripping away decorative effects while avoiding a result that feels too cold.
Built in Austria for faster European delivery
The AION UT is assembled at the Magna factory in Graz, Austria. Local assembly gives GAC more supply chain flexibility and lets the company respond faster to demand in European markets.
430 km of range on a 2,750 mm wheelbase
The SUV's compact exterior houses a 2,750 mm wheelbase, creating a roomier interior for daily use. Under the WLTP test cycle, the AION UT offers up to 430 km of range, aimed at covering both regular commutes and longer trips.
Now on sale in five European countries
The AION UT launched in Milan in March 2026 and is currently available in Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom. GAC plans to expand into additional European markets in the coming months.
