Toyota Adds Rugged Woodland Edition to 2027 Grand Highlander

Plano, Texas – October 11, 2026 -- Toyota is adding a Woodland Edition to the 2027 Grand Highlander Hybrid lineup, with all-terrain tires, an extra half inch of ground clearance and a removable second-row cooler. Gas models start at $42,560 and hybrids at $45,910, before the dealer processing and handling fee.

Woodland Edition adds trail-ready hardware

The Woodland Edition rides on matte black 18-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires. Those tires and taller springs together lift the SUV 0.5 inch above other Grand Highlander models.

The second-row console doubles as a Woodland-branded cooler that holds up to six 12-ounce cans. Other standard extras include a heated steering wheel, a 120V/1500W outlet in the second row, LED fog lamps, a tow hitch and mud guards. The cargo area gets enhanced lighting and a branded tray with pop-up dividers, and all-weather floor mats carry the Woodland logo. Black badges, roof rails, mirror caps, a shark fin antenna and accent trim finish the look.

Three powertrains cover different needs

The 2.4-liter turbo gas engine makes 265 horsepower. The 2.5-liter Hybrid delivers 245 total system horsepower, and the Hybrid MAX produces 362.

Toyota estimates 36 combined MPG for the Hybrid XLE FWD and 34 combined MPG for the Hybrid LE, XLE, Woodland and Limited AWD models. Gas models are rated at 24 MPG with FWD and 23 MPG combined with AWD, while the Hybrid MAX Platinum is rated at 27 combined MPG. Towing capacity is 5,000 pounds on gas grades and the Hybrid MAX, and 3,500 pounds on Hybrid grades.

Lineup changes for 2027

The Hybrid MAX Platinum swaps chrome and gunmetal exterior pieces for black finishes on the grille mesh, hood trim, roof rails, window trim, mirror caps and shark fin antenna. Gas Platinum grades get a new wheel. XLE gas and hybrid models add a standard heated steering wheel and 18-inch dark gray painted wheels. The Hybrid Nightshade Edition and Hybrid MAX Limited grade will not return for 2027.

Third row fits adults, cargo area holds seven carry-ons

The third row offers 33.5 inches of legroom and 37.2 inches of headroom. Cargo capacity reaches 97.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat, and the SUV can carry seven carry-on suitcases with all three rows in use. Seating goes up to eight.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen, three-zone automatic climate control and seven USB-C ports are standard. Acoustic glass on the windshield and front side windows helps keep the cabin quiet. Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes on every grade.

Toyota builds the Grand Highlander exclusively in Princeton, Indiana, and expects 2027 models at dealerships later this year.
