Canada – October 11, 2026 -- Anyone following junior silver stocks should judge the project before the share price, and one familiar name, Dolly Varden Silver, no longer trades on its own after its merger with Contango ORE was completed on March 26, 2026. The companies below are names to follow and compare, not buy recommendations.
A single drill hit does not make a silver project
Grade, jurisdiction, financing, infrastructure and management all count, along with a realistic next catalyst. An intercept of several hundred grams per tonne can be significant, but it does not show how continuous or wide the zone is, how hard it is to mine, how much material exists or how well the metal can be recovered. A surface sample, a drill intersection and an NI 43-101 mineral resource are also three different things.
Local conditions shape risk more than country labels
Canada, Mexico, Peru and Colombia all have long mining histories, yet access, permits, water, power and community relations vary by region. In Peru's Huancavelica district, existing mining knowledge and processing infrastructure may help, but community access and permitting still have to be earned.
Dilution can sink good geology
Explorers spend cash long before they earn revenue. Repeated equity raises increase the share count and shrink an existing shareholder's percentage. Cash, expected spending, warrants, options and the fully diluted share count belong beside drill grades in any comparison.
Nearby mills can open a lower-capital route such as toll milling for smaller underground projects. That still requires technical work and a commercial agreement.
Vizsla Silver has moved into development
Its 100%-owned Panuco silver-gold project in Sinaloa published a feasibility study in November 2025. Vizsla now trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange as VZLA, not on the TSX Venture Exchange. With more technical data available, the investment case increasingly depends on financing, construction and execution rather than discovery alone.
Contango Silver & Gold now holds the Dolly Varden assets
The merged company trades as CTGO on both the TSX and NYSE American. Its Kitsault Valley project in British Columbia's Golden Triangle contains the Dolly Varden, Torbrit, Wolf and Homestake deposits. Contango began a roughly 40,000-metre drill program there in May 2026, aimed largely at infill work, resource expansion, a new resource estimate and preliminary development work.
Outcrop Silver keeps drilling in Colombia
The company's flagship Santa Ana project is a high-grade silver-gold vein system backed by an existing NI 43-101 mineral resource. During 2026 it reported further results from the Aguilar and Morena targets, adding information on vein continuity and potential extensions.
