Royce Small-Cap Trust (RVT): Key Facts for Investors

NEW YORK – October 29, 2026 -- Royce Small-Cap Trust (NYSE: RVT), described as the oldest and largest small-cap closed-end fund, traded an average of about 869,338 shares per week, according to its fund update as of Sept. 30, 2026.

The fund targets small and micro-cap companies

RVT is a closed-end diversified management investment company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Its primary goal is long-term capital growth, pursued by investing at least 65% of its assets in equity securities, primarily of small- and micro-cap companies. The fund's adviser has more than 50 years of small- and micro-cap investment experience.

Thirteen percent of holdings have zero or negative earnings

The fund's price-earnings (P/E) ratio calculation excludes companies with zero or negative earnings. Those companies made up 13% of portfolio holdings as of Sept. 30, 2026. The P/E ratio divides a company's share price by its trailing 12-month earnings per share.

Closed-end shares can trade below net asset value

Shares of closed-end funds may trade at a discount to their net asset value. The fund states that investing in small- and micro-cap companies may involve considerably more risk than investing in larger-cap companies. It may also hold a significant portion of net assets in foreign securities, which carry political, economic and currency risks. A diversified portfolio does not ensure a profit or guarantee against loss.
