Life Time to Open 45,000-Sq-Ft Club on Boston's Commonwealth Pier in 2027

Boston – October 06, 2026 -- Life Time has announced plans to open a 45,000-square-foot athletic club and wellness destination inside Commonwealth Pier in Boston's Seaport District, with a target opening in late 2027.

The club will be Life Time's eighth location in Greater Boston since 2015

Life Time entered the Boston market with Life Time Westwood in 2015 and now operates clubs in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford and Peabody, along with The Prudential Center location that opened in October 2025. Commonwealth Pier will mark the company's first waterfront club in the region.

The space will overlook Boston Harbor with 40-foot ceilings

The destination will feature floor-to-ceiling glass windows and panoramic harbor views. Planned amenities include boutique studio fitness formats, personal training, a co-ed rejuvenation wet suite with sauna and thermal experiences, recovery-focused spaces, and a LifeCafe and bar.

Pembroke redeveloped the century-old pier into a mixed-use district

Commonwealth Pier originally opened in 1913 as the largest pier building in the Northeast and later housed the Seaport World Trade Center. Pembroke's redevelopment of the site preserves that history while adding office, retail, dining and cultural space, plus a revitalized Harborwalk connecting the property to Boston Harbor.

"The opportunity to introduce Life Time to the Seaport neighborhood makes Commonwealth Pier especially compelling as we look for locations where we can have the greatest impact on how people live," said Parham Javaheri, Executive Vice President and President of Real Estate and Chief Property Development Officer at Life Time.

Pembroke says the club will support free public fitness programming

Pembroke's Kristan McLaughlin said the companies, together with the Museum of American Finance, plan to explore programming with Boston Public Schools aimed at student enrichment. Atlantic Retail's Peter Considine and Sean Gildea represented Life Time in the transaction, while Graffito's Dave Downing and Angela VanArsdale represented Pembroke.

Life Time has established a waitlist for people interested in membership at the new location, with further details expected in the coming months.
