Munich – September 12, 2026 -- The ADAC is adding plug-in balcony solar systems to its product lineup through a new partnership with kleines kraftwerk, a solar company based in Achim, Lower Saxony. ADAC members now receive a price discount of at least ten percent on the complete solar kits, which are designed for balconies, terraces, garages, and carports.
The offering targets households that want to generate their own solar power but cannot or do not want to install a traditional rooftop photovoltaic system.
Support Team of More Than 100 Staff Based in Lower Saxony
Markus Groiß, managing director of ADAC Autovermietung and ADAC Finanzdienste, said the cooperation gives ADAC members an easy and reliable entry point into solar power generation, backed by advice and support from more than 100 employees in Lower Saxony. Markus Struck, managing director and co-founder of kleines kraftwerk, said the partnership shows that balcony power stations have become an everyday, uncomplicated way for many people to start generating their own electricity. Co-founder Sebastian Hirt added that the member discount makes the switch to self-generated power more accessible to even more people.
Roughly 430,000 New Plug-In Solar Systems Registered in Germany in 2025
Balcony solar units have grown from a niche product into a common entry-level option for home power generation. According to Germany's Marktstammdatenregister run by the Bundesnetzagentur, around 430,000 plug-in solar systems were newly registered in 2025 alone. Unlike full rooftop installations, many of these systems require only limited construction work, making them a practical choice for households without their own roof.
Product Range Spans From 1,000 Wp Starter Kits to Systems With Battery Storage
The lineup includes a plug-in starter kit with around 1,000 Wp of module output, a flexible modular set for irregular spaces, and a larger system with roughly 2,000 Wp of module output paired with a battery storage unit. Depending on the building's layout, the systems can be mounted on balconies, terraces, garages, or carports. All mounting brackets are manufactured in Germany and are structurally tested. kleines kraftwerk, founded in 2022 by Markus Struck and Sebastian Hirt, operates from Achim, Berlin, and a logistics center in Elsdorf near Zeven, and has partnered with storage maker Anker SOLIX since 2024.
