Hangzhou – September 09, 2026 -- Hoymiles has launched the V2X DC Charger, a bi-directional charging device designed to work with its HiOne All-in-One battery energy storage system (BESS), letting homeowners use an electric vehicle as a backup power source for the house.
The charger turns parked EVs into backup power for the home
The V2X supports Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) charging, which can supply power to a household when the grid goes down. It also enables Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) functionality, allowing homeowners to participate in peak shaving and virtual power plant dispatch programs. An integrated EU MID-certified meter tracks energy flow for monitoring purposes.
Direct DC charging cuts wasted energy and charging time
Unlike AC-coupled chargers that rely on a vehicle's onboard charger (OBC) to convert power, the V2X sends DC power directly from solar panels or battery storage to the EV, skipping the AC/DC conversion step and reducing energy losses. With up to 22 kW of charging power, Hoymiles says the V2X can add roughly 110 km of driving range per hour of charging, compared to about 35 km per hour with a conventional AC charger. The device is compatible with 95% of mainstream EV models.
Built as a standalone unit for outdoor installation
The V2X is designed to be installed separately from the HiOne BESS, for example next to a parking space, giving homeowners flexibility in how they lay out their home energy setup. It carries IP65 water and dust protection along with IK10 impact resistance for outdoor durability.
One app now controls solar, storage and EV charging
The charger is managed through the same app used for Hoymiles' other home energy products, giving users a single interface to control solar generation, battery storage and EV charging. The app offers a green power mode and a fast charging mode depending on the user's needs.
