To use the tool, people paste in a claim, article snippet, or AI-generated text, and ChatOn returns a verdict along with supporting sources and the reasoning behind its decision. The system compares multiple sources and assesses their reliability before flagging fabricated statistics, misattributed quotes, or manipulated stories.
A survey exposed how often AI gets facts wrong
ChatOn built the feature after a prior survey found that 39% of Americans verify AI-generated information using Google or other sources. The same study found 36% of Americans have encountered outdated information from AI tools, and 19% have run into made-up sources or references.
Artsiom Turavets, Lead Product Manager at ChatOn, said acting on false information can lead to poor decisions with real consequences at work, in school, or in daily life, which is why the company built a way for users to verify information themselves.
The tool targets everyday scrollers and professionals alike
ChatOn's fact checker is aimed at anyone scrolling through news and social media trying to separate facts from rumors and disinformation. Journalists, researchers, and content creators are expected to save hours that would otherwise go into manually cross-checking multiple sources.
