COLOLIGHT's CHIMERA Ditches the Headset for Chair-Mounted Gaming Audio

COLOLIGHT's CHIMERA Ditches the Headset for Chair-Mounted Gaming Audio

New York and Los Angeles – September 21, 2026 -- COLOLIGHT is launching CHIMERA, a chair-mounted open-ear gaming headset, on Kickstarter starting September 22, with a $219 Super Early Bird price for backers.

The system mounts to a gaming chair instead of the head

Rather than sitting over the ears, CHIMERA's acoustic units attach to a player's gaming chair, creating what the company calls a personal open-ear listening zone around the seated player. The setup can be adjusted for height, distance and angle to fit different chairs, seating positions and body sizes, according to COLOLIGHT.

A dedicated low-frequency driver and nine-driver array power the sound

CHIMERA pairs a dedicated bass driver with a nine-driver mid/high-frequency array, aiming to deliver bass, detailed mids and highs, and a wide soundstage across gaming, movies, music and desktop entertainment. For competitive play, it connects via a dedicated 2.4GHz wireless link with latency as low as 19 ms, and includes desktop software with game-focused EQ presets, including FPS profiles tuned for footsteps, reloads, gunfire and directional cues.

It works across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox via a plug-and-play dongle

CHIMERA connects through a 2.4GHz USB dongle designed for quick setup across PC, PS5, Xbox and other supported devices. COLOLIGHT says the open, spacious audio behaves differently depending on the game: sharpening positional cues in competitive shooters like VALORANT, Counter-Strike 2, Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends; separating environmental sounds in large-scale titles like Fortnite; expanding dialogue and ambience in story-driven games like Cyberpunk 2077; and adding scale to atmospheric titles like Elden Ring.

Voice processing replaces the traditional headset mic setup

For multiplayer communication, CHIMERA uses AI-powered ANC and ENC voice-processing algorithms intended to cut background noise and improve voice clarity during calls and team chat, without requiring a headset mic worn on the head.

Because there's no headband to reposition and no earcups or earbuds resting on the ears once the unit is adjusted, COLOLIGHT positions CHIMERA for longer gaming, streaming and desktop sessions where traditional headsets can become uncomfortable over time.
