Berlin – September 10, 2026 -- ECOVACS has unveiled OZMO ROLLER 3.0, the third generation of its self-washing roller mop technology, debuting in the new DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone robotic vacuum at IFA 2026 in Berlin.
The roller mop category now covers 2.8 million shipped units worldwide
ECOVACS says more than 2.8 million OZMO ROLLER-equipped units had shipped globally as of July 2026, according to the company's internal shipment data. The technology first launched with the DEEBOT X8 series in 2024, followed by OZMO ROLLER 2.0 on the DEEBOT X11.
Fresh water hits the roller before dirt gets redistributed across the floor
Unlike traditional mop pads that build up dirt over repeated passes, OZMO ROLLER continuously refreshes itself mid-clean. Fresh water is delivered to the roller before it touches the floor, while a spray-wash-scrape-collect process removes loosened dirt and wastewater as the roller spins -- reducing the chance that grime gets smeared back onto clean surfaces.
The second generation added AI stain detection and edge cleaning
OZMO ROLLER 2.0 introduced a high-density nylon mop for tougher stains, AI Stain Detection 2.0 to adjust cleaning strategy by stain type, and TruEdge 3.0 to reach closer to walls and corners.
The new roller is longer and dries floors more thoroughly
OZMO ROLLER 3.0 features a longer roller designed to boost cleaning efficiency and a micrometer-level microfiber surface intended to leave less residual water behind after mopping.
ECOVACS backs the technology with over 3,100 patents
The company has been granted more than 3,100 patents and has invested over RMB 5.2 billion in R&D since 2018, resources it credits for translating real-world usage data into successive product generations.
