Lewes – October 19, 2026 -- HiBy's new RS2 II portable Hi-Fi player costs US$439 in its aluminum alloy edition, weighs 156g and uses the same DARWIN III audio architecture as the company's flagship RS8 II.
A flagship audio engine runs on an FPGA with 40 DSP units
DARWIN III is built around a newly developed FPGA digital engine with more than 35K logic units and 40 high-speed DSP units. That processing power drives adjustable pure FIR filters, multiple DARWIN filters, harmonic control, NOS/OS switching and native DSD processing. A high-precision R2R resistor network handles digital-to-analog conversion, which HiBy says helps reduce high-frequency noise introduced by digital modulation.
Four OPA1612 chips and four OPA1622 amplifiers shape the analog stage
The signal chain uses four OPA1612 devices. One handles low-pass filtering after the DAC, one provides current amplification after volume control, and two form a fully balanced voltage amplification stage. At the headphone output, four OPA1622 amplifiers deliver independent four-channel current amplification, aimed at better dynamics, control and compatibility with multi-driver earphones.
A 3.55-inch screen enlarges the display area by 45%
Compared with the original RS2, the display area grows by 45% and resolution by 122%. The new 3.55-inch panel runs at 480 × 800 and sits within narrower bezels. An upgraded X1600E dual-core platform speeds up system responsiveness. The aluminum model comes in dark green with a houndstooth-pattern rear panel.
HiByOS runs the player, which supports coaxial output, Line Out and USB DAC functionality. Two microSD slots allow up to 4TB of total expandable storage.
The brass edition costs US$549 and is limited to 500 units
The aluminum alloy edition is a standard production model. The Limited Brass Edition is expected to become available in October, with worldwide production restricted to 500 units.
