Hisense TVs Are First to Get Dolby Vision 2 via Update

San Francisco – October 12, 2026 -- Owners of select 2026 Hisense TVs can now get Dolby Vision 2 through a firmware update, with more models receiving it over the coming weeks. Dolby Laboratories and Hisense say it is the first phase of a broader rollout.

Four 2026 Hisense lines get the update first

The Hisense UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 (sold as the U7 pro in the EU, MEA and CSA) are first in line. Models running Google TV or VIDAA OS will unlock Dolby Vision 2 over the coming weeks in North America, Europe and APAC.

Dolby says existing Dolby Vision content, from movies and TV to games and live sports, should look more captivating and authentic straight after the update. CANAL+, iQIYI and Peacock have committed to using the expanded palette of Dolby Vision 2 capabilities.

Every Dolby Vision 2 TV gets three core features

The feature set comes in two device tiers. All Dolby Vision 2 TVs get:

  • A new image engine for both new and existing Dolby Vision titles.
  • Content Intelligence, which uses metadata embedded in each title to adjust the picture dynamically, from dark cinematic scenes to sports and games. No remote or complex settings are required.
  • An intensity slider that controls the depth and richness of the picture, compensating for contrast lost to viewing angles or reflections.
Dolby Vision 2 Max debuts on Hisense sets

The premium tier, Dolby Vision 2 Max, is aimed at the highest-performing displays. Hisense's UX, UR9, UR8 and U7 (U7 pro in EU, MEA, CSA) will be the first TVs in the world to support it. Its additions are:

  • Authentic Motion: described as a world-first creative-driven tool that gives newly authored titles a more cinematic feel while removing unwanted judder and the soap opera effect.
  • Light Sense 2: continuously optimizes the picture for any lighting environment without compromising artistic intent, so dark scenes stay clear even in a sunlit room.
  • Pro settings: finer control over display performance for enthusiasts.

John Couling, Senior Vice President, Entertainment at Dolby, said Dolby Vision 2 "sets a new standard for what television can look like." Sonny Ming, General Manager of Hisense's TV Product Marketing Department, said the picture is meant to deliver vivid, true-to-life visuals the moment a user turns on the TV.
