Glendale, Calif. – September 13, 2026 -- Loop8 has launched a free privacy app that eliminates master passwords, letting users unlock passwords, notes, messages and two-factor codes with their phone's built-in biometrics.
The app stores nothing on Loop8's own servers
Everything a user saves is encrypted on their phone, with backups sent automatically to the user's own iCloud account on iOS or Google account on Android. The encryption key never leaves the device, so even that personal cloud backup cannot be opened without the original phone.
When data moves between devices, it passes through Loop8's servers end-to-end encrypted, with keys that stay on user devices. Loop8 says it cannot read the content and keeps no copy after delivery.
Signing up requires just an email and phone number
Loop8 does not collect a name, home address, age or gender during registration.
Lost phones are recovered through trusted contacts, not reset links
Because Loop8 never holds a user's content or encryption key, it cannot restore an account itself. Instead, users designate trusted contacts in advance who can help restore access if a device is lost.
The free tier includes four tools beyond password storage
Note8 offers biometric-protected notes and can share a protected note with a family member's Loop8 app. True8 Connect provides private messaging that self-deletes after eight days with no archive. An authenticator generates two-factor codes on-device, and PrivacyMate scans the dark web for compromised data with real-time desktop alerts.
The paid tier costs $8 and includes seven extra licenses
Upgrading unlocks the full password manager, kept on the phone with no server copy, plus MySafe, a desktop tool that stores contents locally unless the user backs it up to their own cloud storage. Every paid license comes with seven additional licenses at no charge.
Zarik Megerdichian, Loop8's founder and CEO, said hackers target large companies because millions of accounts sit in one place, and Loop8 does not keep that kind of pile.
The app runs across phones, desktops and browsers
Loop8 is available now on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and runs on Mac and Windows desktops with browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
