MacPaw's Moonlock Security App Wins Red Dot Design Award

Kyiv – – September 09, 2026 -- Moonlock, the cybersecurity app from Ukrainian tech company MacPaw, has won a Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design honor, recognizing the app's approach to making online protection feel simple rather than intimidating.

Moonlock ditched technical jargon for a friendlier interface

Launched in October 2025, Moonlock replaces the cold, alert-heavy tone typical of security software with plain-spoken copy, hand-drawn illustrations, and an intuitive interface. The app is built to make Mac protection and antivirus features accessible to users regardless of technical expertise.

MacPaw's product lead says design was central to the mission

"Cybersecurity has a reputation for being intimidating — all alerts and jargon, with the sense that you need to be an expert just to stay safe. We built Moonlock to change that," said Oleg Stukalenko, Head of Product Management at Moonlock by MacPaw. He added that the team views design as everything a user experiences, not just the screen in front of them.

The Red Dot jury draws from 30 international experts

The Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design competition, running since 1993, spans 18 categories and is open to established and emerging designers, agencies, and companies. Entries are judged by an international panel of 30 experts spanning design, science, media, and consultancy.

This marks MacPaw's fourth Red Dot win

Moonlock's award continues a design track record for MacPaw, which first won a Red Dot in 2017 when Gemini 2 became the first macOS application to receive the honor. CleanMyMac followed in 2021, and CleanMy®Phone won in 2024.
