Berlin – September 08, 2026 -- TCL introduced the TAB A1 tablet series at IFA 2026, offering four models split across two screen sizes and two viewing experiences for shoppers who read, stream, study or work on the go.
Four models split by size and screen type
The lineup includes the TCL TAB A1, TCL TAB A1 NXTPAPER, TCL TAB A1 Plus and TCL TAB A1 Plus NXTPAPER. TCL structured the range around two choices: screen size and display technology.
The 11-inch models are built for portability, with a 6.2mm thin design, 2.1K resolution and refresh rates up to 90Hz. The larger 12.2-inch Plus models step up to 2.4K resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio and refresh rates up to 120Hz, giving users more room for movies, documents and split-screen multitasking.
Standard displays target streaming, NXTPAPER targets reading
Standard Display models are aimed at everyday streaming and browsing. NXTPAPER models add anti-glare treatments, hardware-level blue light control and selectable display modes for users who spend extended time reading, studying or working.
Top model adds a dedicated NXTPAPER key
The flagship TCL TAB A1 Plus NXTPAPER pairs the 12.2-inch, 2.4K screen with a dedicated NXTPAPER key that switches between three modes: a full-color Standard mode for entertainment and apps, a Color Paper mode for softer illustrated content and browsing, and an Ink Paper mode for focused monochrome reading. Customizable gestures also give quicker access to AI features and the NXTPAPER interface.
All four models run Android 16, combining Google services with productivity features developed by TCL.
Pricing depends on country and retailer
TCL confirmed the TAB A1 series will launch in select European markets, with pricing, colors, configurations, accessories and bundle contents varying by country and sales channel. Local details will be announced market by market.
Stefan Streit, Chief Marketing Officer at TCL Europe, said the series was designed to make it easier for people to find a tablet that fits their daily habits, whether that means streaming video or studying for hours at a time.
