El Centro – October 06, 2026 -- Vero Fiber has begun construction on a fiber-to-the-home internet network in El Centro, California, aiming to deliver high-speed service to residents, businesses, and schools.
Construction starts near De Anza Magnet School
The initial build zone covers neighborhoods between South Imperial Avenue and South La Brucherie Road, from Ross Avenue south to Ocotillo Drive. The project will roll out in set zones across the city, with roughly 300 homes in each area. Future phases are planned near Sunflower Elementary School and the El Centro Community Center.
Referral program offers a free month of service
Residents and businesses who refer friends or family to Vero Fiber will earn a free month of internet for both parties. The company's Veros Heroes program also offers discounts to firefighters, police officers, teachers, educators, healthcare workers, and first responders.
Vero has already built networks in three other California towns
The company operates fiber networks in Arcata, Eureka, and Ukiah, California, and has hired 29 people statewide, with plans to continue hiring in El Centro. In 2025, Vero donated $13,000 to local nonprofits and a fire station.
CEO Sunita Krishna said bringing fiber internet to El Centro is meant to help local businesses grow and give students access to more resources.
