New York – October 30, 2026 -- WavKong's V2700 Wi-Fi 6 router is now on sale through the company's website. In company testing, a single unit provided up to 15,000 square feet of combined indoor-outdoor coverage.
A custom chip targets distortion at the source
The V2700 is built around WavKong's proprietary RPU (Radio Processing Unit) chip, developed over six years. It brings digital predistortion into the 5 GHz radio path of a home router. Cellular base stations and satellite communications have long used the technique.
The problem it addresses: as a Wi-Fi power amplifier runs at higher output, nonlinear distortion degrades signal quality and limits the speeds devices can sustain at range. Predistortion compensates before transmission. In laboratory testing at 160 MHz channel bandwidth and 1024-QAM, it improved error vector magnitude from roughly -29.3 dB to -41.2 dB, a gain of more than 12 dB.
WavKong says one V2700 can be enough in many suitable homes. Where building materials or layout demand more, two properly positioned units can work together in a mesh network. The company says the goal is not to eliminate mesh but to need fewer nodes.
A garden spot hit 123 Mbps in company testing
WavKong tested a single-story, wood-frame residence in California. At a distant garden location, the V2700 measured 123 Mbps, versus 4.2 Mbps for the comparison mesh configuration. The company also tested the router in three-story wood-frame homes in other U.S. states.
An independent comparison shows a split result against a three-node mesh
Technology creator Jeff Springer compared one V2700 with a well-known mesh Wi-Fi brand. The V2700 beat an individual mesh node at several distant locations. Against the full three-node setup, it was faster at two of four test locations, while the mesh system led at the other two.
An Australian customer who had used a router plus two mesh nodes reported 5 GHz downloads above 500 Mbps after switching, up from about 250 Mbps. Another user said a previously unreliable smart doorbell became more stable after six weeks.
WavKong notes that its figures come from internal tests or individual user reports. Actual results vary with walls and building materials, interference, router placement, client capabilities, and network configuration.
Kickstarter backers received orders by September 29
The V2700 launched on Kickstarter on April 22, 2026, and earned "Project We Love" recognition within 24 hours. The campaign drew 1,074 backers and raised HK$3,272,087, or more than US$400,000. WavKong completed fulfillment on September 29.
"Technology should make connectivity effortless, not more complicated," said CEO Dr. Ziming Wang.
The V2700 ships to supported markets. It supports Wi-Fi 6, 160 MHz channel bandwidth, and WPA3 security, and it can run as a router or an access point.
