Today's Trainees for Tomorrow's Trainees – Third Networking Meeting of Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiatives in Berlin

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb. 27, 2025 – Around 60 interested parties attended the third networking meeting of the Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiatives at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in Berlin yesterday, Wednesday. The event was opened by Bernhard Kluttig, State Secretary at the BMWK. Since the beginning of 2024, the RKW Competence Center has been coordinating the networking of the stakeholders of the Apprenticeship Ambassador Initiatives. The aim of the apprenticeship ambassadors, as a nationwide successful measure for career guidance, is to provide students with authentic insights into apprenticeship professions and companies at eye level.

Berlin/Eschborn, February 27, 2025. The participants of the networking meeting showed great interest in the practical reports and workshops, as well as in the expansion of the network platform, and took the opportunity for professional exchange among themselves. The focus was on the targeted approach to Generations Z and Alpha, as well as reaching and informing parents.

"Apprenticeship ambassadors are credible role models for future trainees. They provide valuable insights into their training and professional lives at schools, thereby helping young people directly with career guidance. We have been supporting the work of the apprenticeship ambassador initiatives since the beginning of January 2024 through a platform and regular networking meetings. We are facilitating the nationwide exchange of information and knowledge for them, so that we can inspire even more initiatives in the regions for the work with the trainees," said Bernhard Kluttig, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Trainee Recruiting, Differently

As "insiders," apprenticeship ambassadors pass on their first-hand experiences to students, thus promoting their professions and potential training companies.

Becoming an apprenticeship ambassador is quite simple: Interested trainees take part in workshops in which they are trained in presentation techniques and prepared for their assignments at schools, trade fairs, and other events. Nationwide.

In addition to in-depth information on the concept of apprenticeship ambassadors, the website also offers contact options for all active initiatives – clearly arranged by federal states. Interested trainees, companies, and schools can find out with just a few clicks which chamber in their region offers "apprenticeship ambassadors." At the same time, the platform aims to attract more partners for this proven method of career guidance.

Network and Coordination

The network has been established and coordinated by the RKW Competence Center on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) since 2024. The assignments of the apprenticeship ambassadors are usually organized by the Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and the Chambers of Crafts (HWK) – in almost all federal states and sometimes for many years already.
