Great Rail Journeys Launches Landmark Collection of Luxury Train Tours

Chicago – September 15, 2026 -- Great Rail Journeys, formerly known as Vacations By Rail, has launched a new Landmark Collection of premium escorted vacations, now open for booking through 2027.

The portfolio spans Europe, Canada, Africa and the United Kingdom, with itineraries running 7 to 17 days and combining iconic train routes, luxury hotels and small-group touring.

Five signature itineraries anchor the new collection

The 8-day Premium Glacier Express tour crosses the Swiss Alps in a privately chartered Excellence Class car, with guaranteed window seats, welcome Champagne and a five-course wine-paired menu. The 17-day Premium Canada Coast to Coast Tour pairs Goldleaf Class travel aboard The Rocky Mountaineer with stays at Fairmont properties in Québec City, Toronto, Jasper, Banff and Vancouver.

A 10-day Orient Express & Luxury Rhône Cruise takes guests from Venice to Paris aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, dining in restored 1920s carriages, before joining a 12-guest Belmond river cruise on the Rhône. The company describes it as the only vacation package combining the Orient Express with a luxury Belmond river cruise.

The 17-day Grand Tour of South Africa includes five-star dining and air-conditioned suites aboard a luxury train, while the 7-day Premium London & Scotland itinerary offers private access to historic palaces and castles, including Kensington Palace, plus a talk led by Princess Diana's former butler.

The company built the lineup on more than 50 years of rail travel experience

Great Rail Journeys designed the collection around what it calls defining moments of rail travel, from Alpine Champagne toasts to African sunrises viewed from onboard luxury trains.

"With Landmark, we've brought together the experiences travelers often dream about, from iconic trains and remarkable hotels to meaningful moments that connect them more deeply with the places they visit,
