New Gay Resort Opens in Costa Rica Without Ultra-Luxury Price Tag

NEW YORK – October 07, 2026 -- Royal Grand Resorts, a new 30-room adults-only hotel built for gay men, opens this November in Manuel Antonio on Costa Rica's central Pacific coast, with reservations now open at royalgrandresorts.com.

The resort skips ultra-luxury pricing for upscale rooms and amenities

Rooms span five categories, from the 290-square-foot Royal Queen Room to the 527-square-foot Royal Grand Suite. Every room includes a private balcony, individually controlled air conditioning, robes, slippers, a mini fridge, a safe and a coffee maker. Breakfast is included every morning.

A clothing-optional pool anchors the daytime scene

Guests can spend the day at a swim-up bar, a hot tub and a lounge with its own full-service bar. A rooftop bar adds a second hot tub for sunset drinks, while a steam room, sauna and third hot tub offer a quieter retreat away from the main deck. The beach, Playa Espadilla, sits a three-minute walk from the property, and the resort sets guests up in the beach's gay section with chairs, towels, drinks and picnic lunches included.

Dinner turns into a nightclub three nights a week

Mango Tango Restaurant and Lounge seats guests at 14 tables and a 10-seat bar cut from a single live-edge slab, serving seafood, steakhouse cuts and international dishes made with local ingredients. Thursday through Saturday at 11 p.m., staff clear the tables and a DJ plays until 2 a.m. in the same room, so guests don't need a cab to get to the dance floor or back to their rooms.

Manuel Antonio National Park sits less than a mile away

Staff members, called the Royal Boys, arrange guided rainforest hikes, zip-lining, white water rafting, snorkeling, horseback riding, ATV tours to waterfalls and sunset cruises. Travelers reach the resort via a 30-minute flight from San José to Quepos, followed by a short transfer. Royal Grand Resorts was founded by Stanley Kania and is a member of the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association.

"You should be thinking about who you want to meet, not whether you can be yourself," said Wayne Taylor, COO of Royal Grand Resorts.
