Miami – September 18, 2026 -- Norwegian Cruise Line has unveiled the entertainment lineup for its new ship, Norwegian Aura, set to debut in May 2027, headlined by an original stage production titled "Whitney: A Celebration of Whitney Houston."
The show is built with the singer's estate and her music publisher
Developed in partnership with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and Primary Wave Music, the 45-minute production reimagines Houston's catalog through contemporary arrangements and live performance. Houston sold more than 220 million records worldwide, scored seven consecutive No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hits and won six Grammy Awards. The show will feature hits including "It's Not Right, But It's OK," "I Will Always Love You," and "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)," a track certified nine-times platinum by the RIAA and named Best Pop Song of All Time by Billboard in 2023.
Pat Houston, executor of The Estate of Whitney E. Houston and president of the Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation, said the singer enjoyed cruises and that fans will get a nostalgic experience hearing her music performed live at sea.
The production stages in a three-story theater with a live band
The show will run in the Aura Theatre & Club, combining live vocals, a live band, visual effects and performances that extend beyond the main stage. Bryan White, vice president of entertainment production at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said the production follows earlier Vegas residency-style shows built around Prince and Elton John aboard Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna.
Three other new shows round out the ship's nightlife
Norwegian Aura will also debut "ILLUMINOX: Infinite Wonder Unboxed," a 45-minute illusion and acrobatics spectacular, and "The Vinyl Republic," a new live-music collective performing genres from rock to country across venues including the Penrose Atrium and Improv at Sea. The adults-only "LunaTique: Pop Circus," which debuted on Norwegian Luna, returns with new acts, cocktail pairings and an additional cost for entry.
Norwegian Aura's first season sails from Trieste to Miami
The ship launches with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain, on May 21, 2027, calling at Valletta, Malta, and Salerno and Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. A 13-day transatlantic crossing to Miami follows, where the ship begins seven-day Eastern Caribbean sailings from June through October 2027, including stops at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic; St. Thomas; Tortola; and NCL's private Bahamian island, Great Stirrup Cay, featuring the new Great Tides Waterpark. In winter 2027/28, Norwegian Aura shifts to seven-day Western Caribbean routes with calls in Roatan, Honduras; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and Harvest Caye, Belize.
