Hospitality Industry as Leading Integration Engine: Study Reveals Potential to Create Jobs for 3 Million Young Adults

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – Feb 27, 2025SHERIDAN, WYOMING – January 13, 2025 – A groundbreaking study by the Denkfabrik Zukunft der Gastwelt (DZG) (Think Tank Future of the Hospitality Industry) in collaboration with Fraunhofer IAO has revealed the immense potential of the hospitality industry to integrate low-skilled young adults into the job market. The study, titled "Integration Engine Hospitality Industry," the second part of which will be presented on March 11, 2025, shows that the hospitality industry can offer employment opportunities to nearly three million young people up to the age of 34.

The Significance of the Hospitality Industry in Combating Unemployment

The study, published on February 27, 2025, in Berlin, underscores the role of the hospitality industry as a leading integration engine in Germany. With nearly three million unqualified young adults seeking employment opportunities, the hospitality sector proves to be a vital sector that can help integrate these individuals into the labor market.

"The hospitality world is an opportunity for every fifth young adult, or nearly three million unskilled individuals up to the age of 34," states the DZG press release. The study emphasizes the potential of the hospitality industry to provide entry into the labor market for young adults with low qualifications.

Key Findings of the Study

The "Integration Engine Hospitality Industry" study examines the ways in which the hospitality industry can provide meaningful employment opportunities to young people without sufficient qualifications. The study stresses that these individuals do not constitute a fringe group and that their integration into the labor market can benefit both the economy and social systems.

The study titled "What the Hospitality World Achieves as Germany's Strongest Integration Engine!" also provides insights into the necessary policy measures to harness the potential of the hospitality industry as an integration engine.

Presentation of Study Results

The results of the second part of the study will be presented on March 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. in an online press conference. The event will be led by Prof. Dr. Vanessa Borkmann, Research Director at Fraunhofer IAO Stuttgart, and Dr. Marcel Klinge, Spokesperson for the DZG Board.

Media representatives are cordially invited to attend the online press conference. Interested parties can register with Martina Rozok at m@rozok.de to receive the link to the event.
