Miami – September 18, 2026 -- Royal Caribbean has named retired U.S. Air Force Gen. Lori J. Robinson as godmother of its newest ship, Legend of the Seas, ahead of a naming ceremony set for November 11 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The ceremony lands on Veterans Day for a reason
Legend of the Seas will arrive in Fort Lauderdale this November following its debut summer season in Europe. Royal Caribbean chose Veterans Day for the naming ceremony to honor Gen. Robinson alongside veterans, active-duty service members and military families connected to the cruise line.
Robinson spent 37 years in the Air Force and became the nation's first female combatant commander, later leading both NORAD and NORTHCOM. "I have seen the importance of bringing people together in pursuit of a shared purpose, and Legend creates those same connections for families and loved ones," she said.
The ship packs 28 dining options and a 154-foot zip line
Legend of the Seas offers what Royal Caribbean calls the most dining options at sea, with 28 venues including the Royal Railway – Legend Station and the multi-course Hollywoodland Supper Club. The ship also features seven pools and Crown's Edge, a combined skywalk-and-zip-line attraction suspended 154 feet above the ocean.
Entertainment includes a live version of America's Got Talent and a stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
Sailings launch with Caribbean routes from Fort Lauderdale
From its Fort Lauderdale homeport, Legend will run 6-night Western Caribbean itineraries and 8-night Southern Caribbean voyages stopping in Oranjestad, Aruba, and Willemstad, Curacao. Every sailing will also call at Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day CocoCay in The Bahamas.
Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean, said Robinson "embodies courage, determination and a spirit of service" fitting for the ship's namesake role. Vacations on Legend of the Seas are currently open for booking.
