September 03, 2026 – Austin, Texas -- Texas is rolling out a fresh lineup of hotels, outdoor attractions and dining honors aimed at giving travelers new reasons to visit the state.
Three new hotels target different types of travelers
1 Hotel Austin, a sustainability-focused property, opens in September. Morgan's Hotel in San Antonio is designed to serve travelers of all abilities through accessible technology and trained staff. Canyon Ranch Texas, an all-inclusive wellness resort on 600 acres overlooking Lake Travis in Spicewood, opens Oct. 15.
Two parks expand access to Texas' outdoors
Palo Pinto Mountains State Park, located 75 miles west of Fort Worth, opened in March as the state's newest park, spanning nearly 4,900 acres with hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, fishing and stargazing. Enchanted Rock State Natural Area near Fredericksburg more than doubled in size with a new rugged backcountry section.
Three Texas restaurants earned their first Michelin Stars
Mamani in Dallas, along with Isidore and Nicosi in San Antonio, received first-time Michelin Stars in the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Texas. The 2026 guide, covering Stars, Bib Gourmands and Recommended restaurants, will be released digitally on Oct. 8.
Four Hill Country wineries won the state's first gold medals at a major competition
Ab Astris Winery in Stonewall, Turtle Creek Vineyard in Kerrville, Adega Vinho in Johnson City and Spicewood Vineyards in Spicewood each earned gold at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards, a first for Texas wineries.
New family attractions target kids and multigenerational groups
Universal Kids Studio in Frisco is Universal's first park built for families with children age 10 and under. Dig World in Grapevine lets visitors operate real construction equipment, while Cannon Beach Surf & Adventure Park in McKinney brings year-round surfing to North Texas. In Amarillo, Wonderland Amusement Park is marking 75 years in operation.
Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell said the developments "build upon what travelers already love about Texas while creating fresh opportunities to discover our communities and hospitality."
