Trip.com's My Travel Impact Tracks Your Greener Trips in One Place

SINGAPORE – October 28, 2026 -- Trip.com has added a feature called My Travel Impact to its app. It pulls a traveller's more sustainable hotel, flight and rail choices into a single dashboard. The launch follows Trip.com Group's 2026 Sustainable Travel Consumer Report, which found that 56.8% of travellers now intentionally choose more sustainable options and 75.4% say sustainability matters when they make travel decisions.

My Travel Impact covers hotels, flights and rail

The dashboard draws on three parts of a journey:

  • Hotels: nights stayed at properties with Trip.com's Certified Sustainable label, which is based on recognised third-party certification.
  • Flights: estimated emissions avoided by choosing lower-emission flights, where comparable data is available. Estimates use the Travel Impact Model recommended by Travalyst.
  • Rail: estimated emissions savings from taking rail instead of gasoline cars, where comparable data is available.

Until now, this information was spread across different travel products.

Travellers say they want clearer labels and carbon dashboards

The report surveyed 8,777 respondents across 29 markets in four regions. Clear sustainable labels (41.6%) topped the list of what travellers want from online travel agencies, and 32.7% would like a dashboard showing the carbon impact of their bookings. Some 64.2% say more sustainable offerings will influence which platform they book on.

Price remains the biggest hurdle. Higher prices were the most cited barrier (37.1%), ahead of inconvenience or extra effort (29.8%) and difficulty identifying sustainable options (27.1%). Price (64.1%) and quality and comfort (61.8%) are still the leading considerations when choosing travel.

Environmental responsibility and authentic experiences drive choices

Environmental responsibility (52.5%) and preserving destinations for future generations (50.8%) were the top motivations. Another 44.4% cited more authentic travel experiences. Exploring nature and outdoor destinations (41.6%), scenic rail journeys (34.1%) and lesser-known destinations with fewer crowds (32.7%) lead the options travellers say would improve a trip.

Good public transport or lower-carbon mobility (56.0%) and protection of natural and cultural heritage (50.6%) would most increase interest in visiting a destination.

Extreme weather changed the plans of 62.0% of travellers

Of those travellers, 29.9% delayed or rescheduled a trip, 23.6% changed the season or timing, and 21.9% switched destination.

Gen Z leads, with 69.5% choosing more sustainable options

Millennials followed at 63.0%, Gen X at 50.6% and Boomers at 40.6%. More than three-quarters of Gen Z (76.7%) say more sustainable offerings would influence their choice of online travel agency.

Trip.com Group CEO Jane Sun said the company believes "every journey can make a difference." The group works with GSTC and Travalyst on certification and emissions information, and uses responsible travel guidance from organisations such as WWF for the tips it shares with travellers.
