Hypershell's Halo Exoskeleton Syncs Four Motors for All-Terrain Walking

Berlin – September 08, 2026 -- Hypershell unveiled Halo, its flagship full-leg exoskeleton, at IFA 2026, marking the first consumer exoskeleton to coordinate four motorized hip and knee joints as a single system. The first 200 units, sold as the Origin Edition with a unique serial number, are available for pre-order starting at 2,299 EUR, with sales and phased deliveries beginning in November across the United States, Canada, Europe, the United Kingdom and China.

The frame moves with the body instead of against it. A continuous carbon-fiber structure runs from hip to lower leg, letting the four motorized joints share propulsion, weight support, descent control and landing cushioning. An adaptive Fish-Spine joint lets the hip motor track natural hip movement rather than a fixed axis, giving Halo up to 198 degrees of lateral range and 167 degrees of front-to-back motion.

An AI system predicts steps nearly a fifth of a second before they happen. HyperIntuition 2.0 relies on a mixture-of-experts architecture, with more than 30 sensors feeding real-time data to an onboard HyperCore Pro chip. Trained on over 10,000 hours of movement data, the system anticipates a user's intended motion roughly 200 milliseconds in advance and adjusts assistance up to 2,500 times per second, allowing transitions between walking, climbing and descending without manual mode switching.

Four motors deliver up to 1,490 watts while staying wearable. The HyperDrive Pro system uses knee motor units weighing just 170 grams each, housed in magnesium-alloy casings. Hypershell says the coordinated joints reduce knee muscle fatigue by up to 40% during squats by sharing load and braking torque across the hip and knee.

The whole unit weighs 2.6 kg and folds into a backpack. Built from aerospace-grade carbon fiber and titanium, Halo compresses to under 8 liters and fits inside packs up to 85 liters, including mountaineering packs. It carries an IP54 rating against dust and splashing water. A detachable PocketVolt battery weighs 370 grams and provides up to 20 km of range.

A five-buckle system cuts setup time to seconds. Once adjusted, Halo can be put on in about 20 seconds and removed in 5 seconds, according to Hypershell. The device also includes Shelly, described as the industry's first AI voice assistant built specifically for consumer exoskeletons, which lets users configure settings and plan routes through conversation or text.

Kelvin Sun, CEO of Hypershell, said Halo was not built by simply adding motorized knees to an existing hip exoskeleton, but by redesigning the architecture, power system and AI for the entire lower body so all four joints move in unison with the wearer.
