Germany – September 13, 2026 -- Drivers across Germany are paying significantly more for fuel this week, with the ADAC's latest weekly survey showing Super E10 up 7.6 cents per liter to a national average of 2.259 euros. Diesel climbed even faster, rising nearly 9 cents to 2.321 euros per liter.
Oil prices rose, but only partly explain the jump
The ADAC links the increase to a higher oil price, with Brent crude currently trading just under 100 US dollars per barrel. However, the association says the oil price and the euro-dollar exchange rate only partially justify current pump prices.
Super E10 keeps hitting new highs despite lower crude prices
The ADAC points out that Super E10 continues to reach new peak prices even though crude oil remains far below previous record highs. For consumers, the pattern is difficult to understand. The ADAC argues more transparency is needed at the refinery and wholesale level to explain how pump prices are actually set.
Timing matters: midday is the cheapest moment to fill up
The ADAC recommends refueling shortly before noon, when prices are typically at their lowest point of the day. Prices tend to spike sharply at 12 p.m. before gradually declining again. Drivers can compare real-time prices at more than 14,000 gas stations across Germany using the ADAC Drive app.
