New York – September 22, 2026 -- Throo, the ride-hailing app that charges drivers a flat $1 per trip instead of a commission, has launched in Denver, its first market outside New York City, three months after debuting in June.
Riders can request a car in Denver using the same throo app, login, and saved payment method they already use in New York. More than 55,000 drivers have signed up to drive with throo in New York City since June.
Denver rides run through a driver-owned cooperative
Denver service is provided by Drivers Cooperative Colorado (COOP), a driver-owned cooperative approved by the State of Colorado and authorized for pickups at Denver International Airport. Riders can be picked up at the terminal and travel anywhere in the metro area.
Drivers pay $1 whether the ride costs $12 or $70
Throo takes no percentage of any fare. Instead, drivers pay a flat $1 per trip in every city and on every product throo runs -- one dollar on a $12 crosstown ride and one dollar on a $70 airport run. On Save Throo, the app's lower-cost option, a Manhattan-JFK trip runs more than 20% cheaper on average than comparable Uber and Lyft products.
Three more cities open by year's end
Throo confirmed that Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Pittsburgh will all open in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Kay Woo, founder of throo, said the company's flat-fee model is designed to counter high fares and heavy commissions charged by incumbent platforms, letting drivers keep everything they earn beyond the dollar fee. Minsun Ji, Executive Director of Drivers Cooperative Colorado, said the partnership let COOP expand quickly while keeping its own driver-set fares intact, and that connecting the Denver and New York apps will let members support riders traveling between the two cities.
Throo is free to download on iOS and Android and currently covers New York City's five boroughs and the Denver metro area, including pickups and drop-offs at Denver International Airport.
