Seattle – October 01, 2026 -- Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Canada & New England season, running May through October aboard the Volendam and Zuiderdam.
The season marks the regional debut of the post-Evolution Zuiderdam, following what the cruise line calls its largest fleet investment in 153 years. Cruises range from seven to 14 days, with longer Collectors' Voyages also available, departing from Montréal, Québec City, Boston, New York and Fort Lauderdale.
Zuiderdam brings new staterooms and dining to the region
The refurbished Zuiderdam introduces purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms, new Bridgeview Suites with forward-facing views, and the Grand Dutch Café. Refreshed staterooms, updated guest spaces and Pinnacle Class-inspired enhancements round out the overhaul.
Itineraries reach five national parks and seven UNESCO sites
Holland America says its ships can access ports too small for larger vessels, reaching five national parks and seven UNESCO World Heritage sites across the season. Select itineraries include late-night calls in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Saint John, New Brunswick, plus overnight stays in Québec City.
Paul Grigsby, the line's vice president of revenue planning and deployment, said the region lets travelers experience a European feel without crossing the Atlantic, pointing to the French influence of Montréal and Québec City alongside Atlantic Canada's maritime traditions.
Wildlife sightings include beluga whales and puffins
Guests may spot beluga whales in the Saguenay Fjord, humpback, finback and minke whales throughout Atlantic Canada, and puffins along Newfoundland's coastline during the season.
Seven itineraries span 7 to 14 days
Options include a 9-day Lighthouse & Harbors sailing from Montréal to New York departing September 30, 2028, and a 14-day Atlantic Coast & Québec voyage aboard the post-Evolution Zuiderdam from Québec City to Fort Lauderdale departing October 14, 2028. An 11-day Canada & New England Circle sails roundtrip from Montréal on May 27 and August 29, 2028.
