Dallas – October 12, 2026 -- Southwest Airlines will open its first-ever airport lounges in late 2027, starting at four U.S. airports, with access tied to a new premium credit card.
Four airports get lounges first, with seven more to follow
Construction has begun on the first four lounges. They are located at Austin-Bergstrom International, Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall, Daniel K. Inouye (Honolulu) International, and Nashville International.
Southwest says at least seven more lounges are planned over the next several years. They will open in high-demand business and leisure markets, though the airline has not named those locations.
Chase brings its Sapphire Reserve lounge model to Southwest
Southwest is partnering with Chase to build the network. Each lounge will combine Southwest's service style with sophisticated design, locally inspired dining, and high-quality amenities. It will also offer travel benefits already available in the Chase Sapphire Reserve Lounge Network.
Tony Roach, Southwest's Executive Vice President and Chief Customer & Brand Officer, described the lounges as "a natural extension" of the airline's hospitality. He called the network a strategic investment in Rapid Rewards and said it deepens Southwest's 30-year partnership with Chase.
A new Rapid Rewards credit card unlocks entry in 2027
Access will come through a new premium Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card issued by Chase, launching in 2027. The source does not give an annual fee, a rewards structure, or details on other ways to enter the lounges.
