Carlsbad – September 18, 2026 -- Arlo Technologies has launched Arlo Secure 7, a software update that adds AI-driven threat detection and automatic video summaries to its home security cameras, rolling out to subscribers over the next month.
Threat Assessment flags break-ins and fires within seconds
The new Threat Assessment feature scans camera footage to distinguish real emergencies -- break-ins, fire, armed threats, or theft -- from routine activity. When it detects a high-risk event, the system automatically responds, turning on a camera's siren or spotlight, sending urgent alerts that override Mute and do-not-disturb settings, or escalating the situation to a live Safety Agent for possible emergency dispatch. Arlo says the feature is designed to trigger action within seconds of an event being detected.
Arlo Summary condenses 24 hours of footage into one recap
A second new tool, Arlo Summary, generates an on-demand, plain-language recap of the past day's recorded activity. It filters out minor or repetitive events and places the summary at the top of the Arlo Feed, letting users catch up without reviewing every individual clip.
A new 24/7 recording plan targets homes and small businesses
Arlo is also introducing the Arlo Ultra Secure Plan, which offers continuous 24/7 video recording for up to three cameras, with recordings stored for 30 days. Support for unlimited cameras is planned for a future update. Three Arlo Secure Early Warning System plans -- Smart Aware, Smart Secure, and Ultra Secure -- are now available, with Threat Assessment included in the Smart Secure and Ultra Secure tiers. A one-month trial of Arlo Secure comes with select Arlo product purchases, after which premium features require a paid subscription.

Arlo's Early Warning System already includes smart motion detection for people, vehicles, animals and packages, familiar face and vehicle recognition, fire and sound detection for screams, gunshots, glass breaks and smoke alarms, and searchable video history with plain-language event captions.
