Munich – September 13, 2026 -- Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) will broadcast live coverage of the 191st Oktoberfest from September 19 through October 4, 2026, across BR Television, radio, online platforms and the ARD Mediathek streaming service.
The traditional keg-tapping ceremony opens live coverage on September 19
"O'zapft is!" airs live starting at 11:15 a.m. on BR Television, Das Erste and ARD Mediathek, with radio coverage on Bayern 1 and BR24 beginning at noon. Hosts include Susanne Wiesner, Michael Sporer, Dominik Glöbl, Sophie Grund and Andi Christl, with guests Mitsou Jung and Alessandro Capasso.
A new Sunday afternoon show debuts on September 27
"Wiesn Halbzeit," hosted by Susanne Wiesner and Markus Tremmel, premieres at 4:45 p.m. on BR Television and ARD Mediathek during the festival's second Sunday. Guests scheduled include Wolfgang Grünbauer and the Oktoberfestmusikanten, the Gaugruppe Loisachgau, Dennis Nussbeutel and his musicians, and the Musikverein Siebnach association.
The costume and marksmen's parade streams live on September 20
Coverage of the Oktoberfest Trachten- und Schützenzug begins at 10:03 a.m. live on Das Erste and ARD Mediathek, with a summary airing at 7:15 p.m. on BR Television. Commentary comes from Elisabeth Rehm and Georg Ried, with field reporting by Susanne Wiesner and Roman Roell.
The traditional Wiesn Platzkonzert returns September 27 at 11 a.m.
The concert broadcasts live on BR Television, ARD Mediathek and BR Heimat, hosted by Dominik Glöbl. The same day, Constanze Lindner's behind-the-scenes segment "Stanzls Wiesn-Bummel" airs at 1 p.m.
Closing-day coverage wraps the festival on October 4
"Wiesn-Gschichten," featuring Susanne Wiesner exploring customs and traditions on the Oidn Wiesn, airs at noon on BR Television and ARD Mediathek on the festival's final day.
